When we see a legal guide that satisfies our quality standards, we often award an Avvo Staff Pick. Criteria we consider:
- Well written
- Clearly organized
- Specific
- Actionable
By contrast, we occasionally take legal guides down from the site if they don't meet our minimum quality standards. Guides that are rejected most often fall into one or more of the following categories:
- Advertisements
- Plagiarism
- Excessive third-party content--statutes, references, quoted material, etc., may not exceed 30% of guide content
- Written in a language other than English or Spanish
- Not directed at the general public (e.g., meant for other attorneys)
- Vague or unhelpful
